    Historical data

Because the village has a panoramic view, they named it Panorama. Its older name was Gournia and so it refers to Venetian sources (Gurgna, 1630). [1] In 1671, the Turkish census states that it had 19 huts and was a large settlement. The name Gournia means small troughs, located at the source of the village. In Kastrofylakas (K 97) Stironas refers to Stirona with 115 inhabitants.

At the end of the Ottoman Empire, both Gurnia and Stiron were inhabited only by Muslims. After the Asia Minor Catastrophe, refugees from Konya settled in the villages. They have fully adapted to the customs of the place, having forgotten the customs and traditions of Iconium. They produce raisins, grapes, olive oil and cereals.

Stiron is mentioned by Xanthoudidis [2] and he himself writes that he visited the settlement in 1915. He also mentions that he saw a Byzantine church (the current Assumption of the Virgin Mary) at the entrance of the village, which the Turks called Panagia. Xanthoudidis assumes that it was Agios Georgios Styronas, from which the settlement took its name.
