Nerochori (Νεροχώρι) Aitoloakarnania

Nerochori, officially Nerochori, is a mountain village in Etoloakarnania in the area of ​​Thermos at an altitude of 900 meters [1] [2].

Geography

Nerochori is located northeast of Lake Trichonida and is 42 km east of Agrinio and 19 km north of Thermo. To the east of the village begins the torrent Xerorema which ends at the river Evinos. The name of the village is due to the many waters of the surrounding area. To the south of the village is the church of Agios Nikolaos. Its old name was Tseveliasa, so it was renamed Nerochori in 1928. [5] It was established as a community in 1928 with the Government Gazette 176A-29/08/1928 with the detachment of the settlement from the then community Drymonos [6]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Meligova and Misabella, they constitute the local community of Nerochori, which belongs to the municipality of Thermos and according to the 2011 census, the community has a population of 134 permanent residents, while as a settlement 47 [7].
