Sights

The church of Zoodochou Pigi in the center of the village is its most important attraction [3] and since 2002 it has been characterized as a historical monument. It is a single-aisled stone church with a wooden roof, a typical example of ecclesiastical architecture of its time. It is dated to 1723 based on the lithograph of its southern entrance. The interior is divided into two rows of wooden octagonal columns, formally, in three aisles, decorated with frescoes (18th century) in 5 zones and has a remarkable wood-carved iconostasis with images of the 18th century. The bell tower to the west of the temple bears an inscription dating back to 1859 and has been designated a monument in need of special state protection.
Administrative subordination

As a settlement it is officially mentioned in 1883 in the Government Gazette 126A-02/04/1883 with this name being attached to the then municipality of Silani that belonged to the prefecture of Trikala. In 1944, with the Government Gazette 82A-13/04/1944, it was detached from the prefecture of Trikkala and came under the prefecture of Karditsa [6]. According to the plan, Kallikratis is the local community of Kalogrianon that belongs to the municipal community of Sellanos of the municipality of Palamas and according to the 2011 census has a population of 589 inhabitants [7].

Saint Arsenios Elassonas from Kalogrianon. (April 13 / May 8) Saint Arsenios was born in 1550 in Kalogriana, Karditsa and was a member of the large family of the priest Theodoros and Chrysafi. His mother, who was the niece of St. Bessarion, after the death of her priest-husband became a nun named Christodoulis. In Trikala, Arsenios was educated, then he became a monk and was ordained a deacon in the Holy Monastery of Dousikou. In 1579 he was ordained a priest, while a little later he studied at the School of the Patriarchate and became pastor of the I. N. of Pammakaristos. In 1584, the Ecumenical Patriarch Jeremiah II of Tranos, from Larissa (who had ascended the throne for the second time), ordained the Armenian Bishop of Elassona and Domenikos. Two years later he went to an Orthodox meeting in Moscow, but on his return he stayed for two years in the Ukrainian city of Lvov, at the request of the Greek Orthodox Church there, to intensify their struggle against Unia. In 1588 he accompanied Patr. Jeremiah, who had been restored for the third time to the patriarchal throne of Constantinople, in Moscow, where, at the urging of Tsar Theodore Ivanovich, he settled. But he never forgot his enslaved slaves. Very often he sent icons and other gifts to the I. Monasteries and Patriarchates that suffered from Ottoman rule. In 1597 he became archbishop of Archangels (Archangelsk) and in 1613 archbishop of Tver (Tver) and Cassin. From 1615 onwards, he subjugated the Archdiocese of Suzdal and Tarousi. He passed away on April 13, 1621. He left behind a remarkable work of writing. On June 19, 2006, Metropolitan Cyril II provided for the hoarding of a piece of the holy relics of the Saint in the Holy Temple of the Life-Giving Spring of Kalogrianon. Elassona honors his memory on May 8, the feast of St. Arsen the Great. The Church has set an additional day of honor on April 13 (1621).
