Avgi (Αυγή) Kastoria
Avgi is a village in the prefecture of Kastoria [1] 15 km southwest of the city center. The old name is Bresteni and so it is mentioned in 1918 in the Government Gazette 259A - 29/12/1918 to be attached to the then community of Zelegkosidis (Pentavrysso). In 1928 it was renamed Krya Nera and in 1929 Avgi. According to the Treaty of Lausanne and the Greek-Turkish Population Exchange of 1923, refugees (39 families 143 people) settled in the village from Tsormik Kars in the Caucasus. According to the plan, Kallikratis is the local community of Avgi that belongs to the municipal unit of Agia Triados of the Municipality of Kastoria and according to the 2011 census the village had a population of 159 inhabitants [4].
