Androusa (Ανδρούσα) Messinia

Androusa is a village and a former municipality in Messenia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Messini, of which it is a municipal unit.[1] Predominantly a farming region, the principal exports include kalamata olives, and livestock. It is located 22 km north-west of Kalamata.

Noteworthy attractions include:

Ruins of medieval castle, built by the Franks in the 13th century, of which only remains of the outside fortification enclosure are preserved. Traces of Roman bath and constructions of marble were also revealed.
The church of Agia Samarina, one of the most significant byzantine monuments of the prefecture -3 km northwards, in the area of Kalogerorachi.
The abandoned monastery of Andronikos (a Byzantine emperor) in Maganiako, 10 km north-west.

Municipality population 2,820 (2001), village population 786 (2001).
