Alykes (Αλυκές) Achaia

Alykes (officially: Alykai) is a seaside village, close to Kato Achaia northwest of it, administratively part of the homonymous municipal community of the Municipal Unit of Dymi of the Municipality of Western Achaia [1]. According to the 2011 national census, it was found to have a population of 144 inhabitants.

They are about 26 km from Patras, as well as 2 km from Kato Achaia.

General and historical data

In the village there is a church dedicated to Agios Nikolaos. Its inhabitants are mainly engaged in fishing and there is a small fishing port.

Alykes was officially recognized as a settlement on 19/03/1961 and was annexed to the Community of Kato Achaia, belonging to it, being part of all the administrative changes that followed (today a Municipal Community) [1]. According to the previous official census of 2001, Alykes as part of the then Municipal Department of Kato Achaia of the "Kapodistrian" Municipality of Dymi (1997-2010), had a population of 196 inhabitants [3].
