Agios Stefanos Avlioton, also known as Agios Stefanos Esperion, is a seaside village on the northwest coast of Corfu [1] [2] in the Ionian Islands. According to the 2011 census it has 176 inhabitants [3].
General elements
Agios Stefanos is located between the villages of Arillas and Avliotes at a distance of 35 km NW. from the city of Corfu. Ferries depart from the port of Agios Stefanos to the Diapontia Islands (Ereikousa, Mathraki, Othonoi) and is the port of the area of Avliotes [4].
As a settlement it is officially mentioned in 1971 to be listed in the then community of Avliotes. In 1997 with Government Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997 it was detached from the community of Avliotes and annexed to the then municipality of Esperia [5]. According to the Kallikratis plan and after its modification in 2019, together with Agia Pelagia, Avliotes, Garnades, Kouklikades and Staousa constitute the local community of Avliotes that belongs to the municipal unit of Esperia of the municipality of North Corfu [6].
