Aporrheseos Dike

(ἀπορρήσεως δίκη). The term ἀπόρρησις, “prohibition,” has a technical meaning in Attic law in connection with the sale of landed property. Public notice was required to be given of every such sale, for the protection of mortgagees and other creditors; and any one having a claim upon the estate might interdict the sale by an ἀπόρρησις. The vendor, on the other hand, had his remedy against fraudulent or malicious obstruction in an action for damages, called ἀπορρήσεως δίκη.
