Ventura Miera López de la Fuente (Valdelaguna, July 16, 1824 - October 24, 1902) was a Spanish painter of the nineteenth century.

Biography

Disciple of Vicente López Portaña in the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. He participated in the National Exhibitions of 1858, 1860, 1866, 1871 and 1876 with works in genre and portraits, in addition to a scene of quixotic subject that presented to the one of 1860. Although classified like portraitist, he also painted still lifes. Part of the year he lived and worked in his estate in Colmenar de Oreja, or in his study of number 44 Cava Alta, which he then moved to Alamillo Square.

He was friend of the painter Vicente Palmaroli to whom he gave money for his trip to Italy in 1857 along with Eduardo Rosales and Luis Álvarez Catalá. According to Pérez and Morandeira in his monograph on Palmaroli, a generous friend, Ventura Miera, relinquishes his own savings (p.11). As proof of this friendship is the portrait signed in Madrid in 1860 by Palamaroli, sold by the son of the model to the son of the painter, who, in turn, ceded it to the Prado Museum.
