Johann Andreas Rauch (surname also smoking, teasing or rough; * 1575 in Bregenz on Lake Constance; † around 1632 probably in Austria) was a German painter and cartographer, whose work has been very much in the South German panel painting. With its original presentation he has given a total of cartography important impulses. New rules for different height representations, generally introduced later in the relief cartography, are (probably first) been applied by him and none of the other contemporary South German cartographer has become so thoroughly with cartographic methodological issues involved such as Johann Andreas Rauch.
